Contextual ads is a one line phrase that packs a punch.
Similar to a headline, this type of word phrase is used for search engine advertising. Google AdSense was the first major contextual advertising program.
Creating a great text ad for your advertisement is critical, and while some work and some doesn't, the ones that don't need help in changing some of the text ads to correspond with their particular market. Although, some tough markets require you to use emotional response marketing, and use attention getting text ads that target the emotional strings of the reader.
Different
From Image Advertising
This is much different from the "traditional" image advertising, you can learn how easy it is to convert the text ads to whatever market you choose. Only thing is, when you use these type of text ads you are limiting your response because you are only attracting a certain type of prospect.
It's literally impossible to make a text ad for every type of business in the world, however you can use these text ads as templates for whatever you sell or whatever you offer. The possibilities are endless. Don't get stuck because a text ad isn't for your category. Just change a few key words, and you'll have it. I do this all the time. I take these same text ads, modify them for whatever market I'm working in, and my work of writing the new text ads are easier.
Never use all upper case lettering.
I've found that placing caps on each word in the text ad makes them more noticeable. Use "Marks Surrounding Text Ads." You need to aim your appeal at basic human needs.
#1 First and foremost, try to get self-interest into every text ad you write.
Make your ad suggest to the reader that here is something he/she wants. This rule is so fundamental that it would seem obvious. Yet the rule is violated every day by scores of writers. If you have news, such as a new product, or a new use for an old product, be sure to get that news into your headline in a big way.
#2. Avoid text ads that merely provoke curiosity.
Curiosity, combined with news or self-interest, is an excellent aid to the pulling power of your text ad, but curiosity by itself is seldom enough. This fundamental rule is violated more often than any other. Every issue of every publication or text phrase contains ads that attempt to sell the reader through curiosity alone.
#3. Avoid, when possible, text ads that paint the gloomy or negative side of the picture.
Take the cheerful, positive angle. Try to suggest in your text ad that here is a quick and easy way for the reader to get something he/she wants. When Testing, Switch Only The Text Ad As A Variable Test.
In summary
Text ads can be used in a variety of ways. You can use them on web pages, URL Rotators, Google AdSense, and in discussion forums hyperlinked to your online offer. The key to making this approach successful is creating your text ad to solely focus on people clicking to your offer.
Nothing else matters!
